"I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness."
Isaiah 42:6-7

About Five Valleys

Description Image

Church for us isn’t a building or a Sunday service – it’s a family on a mission.

We are bunch of broken people from all ages and backgrounds across the Five Valleys and Stroud area who have a hope in something bigger. We think the love of God in Jesus is the answer to the world's problems. You can find our purpose below.

  • Love and worship God

This is what we were all created for and Jesus said it was the most important thing. We exist to love, adore, admire, revere, cherish magnify and glorify God!

  • Meet the needs of church and the wider community

Love has to be practical. We have amazing stories of our community reaching out to those in need. We want to be generous people who live lives that are available to help others.

  • See people become more like Jesus

Learning and maturing together is a key part of the Christian life. If you're not becoming more like Jesus, then what's the point?

  • Journey together in fellowship as a family

Fellowship is more than just being part of a club. It's about getting involved and participating - just like a real family.

  • Reach out to those that don’t know Jesus yet and share the good news He has done in our lives

We simply want to share what Jesus is doing in our lives, with the people in our lives that don’t know Him yet. Whatever stage they are at we want there to be some way they can find out more.

What we get up to

Little Giants Toddler Group

Little Giants is our children's ministry that aims to see children be all they can be in God as young as possible. Children often don't experience the fullness of God because they are limited by the faith of adults!

The Alpha Course is a great way for people to find out more about God and what the Christian life is all about. We ran our first Alpha Course in 2015, in Nailsworth without about 50 adults and young people.

We have one meeting on Sundays where the whole Five Valleys family gathers together. They tend to be relaxed times where we gather as family to have music-led worship, look at the bible together as well as lots of tea, coffee & cake!

We have tons of stuff going on for young people and really believe in investing in the next generation! There is a weekly Youth group during term time as well as regular weekends away to events like Big Church Day Out and Soul Survivor.

Developing Leaders

Being a leader at Five Valleys doesn’t make you responsible for the whole of church, yet church can’t happen without you. We make time to gather together as leaders to communicate, feedback, encourage and refresh each other.

Mid-week meetups

Sometimes it’s hard to have real relationships if all you do is meet on a Sunday. Mid-week meetups are an opportunity for people to meet up to pray, study scripture & generally support each other in our journeys.

Summer Camp

Since 2011, we have run a Summer Camp. Summer Camp is a chance to get away, spend time as a church family and listen to what God is saying to us. Every year has been different and special in its own way.

Worship nights

We've just started Saturday night worship nights called Exalt! For some it's difficult to worship on Sundays (looking after little ones can be hard work!) These nights are a chance to connect with God.

Meet The Pastors

(Rev) Steve Woodcock

Elder & Senior Pastor

Steve is an experienced church leader with over 20 years in ministry. Steve used to get paid to be a chef (now he does it for us for free!). He has been known to involve cooking with sharp knives in his sermons.

Katrina Woodcock

Senior Pastor

Katrina & Steve have five amazing children and really are the spiritual parents of the church. When Katrina is not being a mum and child minding, she pastors, teaches and leads our Little Giant's Children's ministry. She is tireless!

Dave & Claire Nelson

Elder, Worship leader

Dave & Claire live in Tetbury with Jonathan, their two year old and Fin! You'll find Dave leading us in worship and making sure all church operations run smoothly.

Nick & Jenna Burne

Nick & his wife Jenna live in Brimscombe, with their two daughters, Sophia (three years old) and Chloe (one year old). Ask them about their healing testimony on having children.

What's on

We are following the government guidelines and not meeting up in person right now. But we are doing online 'virutal' gatherings!! If you'd like the details for these please email

You can also keep in touch on our Facebook Page which we will be regularly updating at this time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What denomination are you?

We are an independent church affiliated with Churches in Community International. Our Senior Pastor, Steve Woodcock is ordained and accredited by this nationally recognised body. We believe in unity and so often join up with other churches in the area for worship and to seek the Kingdom together.

How long have you been around?

Five Valleys Christian Fellowship started in 2011 when two churches (one from Stroud and one from Tetbury) felt God was calling them both simultaneously to a bigger vision of building His kingdom in the wider Five Valleys area.

What kind of people go to your church?

We don't go to church - we are church! We are made up of a diverse mix of people from the ages nought to ninety-something and every age in between. We have lots of families, young people, married couples, single people. Jesus loves and wants to know every person on the planet - so we want to welcome everyone!

What's your worship style?

Our worship style is diverse and different at each meeting, but tends to be contemporary, relaxed and sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Songs from Bethel Music, Rend Collective, David Crowder Band and Matt Redman as well as a few old classics and some of our own. We also like to explore new creative expressions of worship.

How do I get connected?

Sundays are a great way to come, meet us and find out what we're all about. There's a lot we do together as a family that you can find on our calendar on this site as well as a contact form if you have any questions. If you want to join us more then we use tools like social media to keep in touch with each other and what's going on.

What do you believe about the Holy Spirit?

He is God and He is good! He can be known personally today. We see the Holy Spirit loving and ministering to people when we gather together and make space for Him. We believe in (and experience) God given spiritual gifts and very much desire more of these for the church, but try not to forget love is the most important thing.

What do you think about healing?

We don't see every healing prayer answered, but we do have constant testimonies of God's healing power through our church! We are on a journey to make miracles part of our everyday experience, but we also recognise that signs and wonders are not everything. Jesus did lots of miracles and people still didn't believe in Him!

What do you believe about the Bible?

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness..." It's the greatest book ever written. We love it because of who it's written about!
